depending on the age, condition, and verifiability of that Doyle... Conan just screwed that family out of a few million US Dollars. yes a MILLION or more US Dollars. early books of Doyle's are seriously SERIOUSLY rare because the first Holmes stories were newspaper serials... it wasn't until the middle of Doyle's writing career that his BOOKS started selling well.

here's a 1996 example, "An autograph manuscript of ''The Sign of Four,'' Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's second Sherlock Holmes story, was sold yesterday at Sotheby's to an anonymous American collector for $519,500, far more than the auction house had estimated. Doyle's handwritten final draft of his short novel, the oldest surviving complete Sherlock Holmes manuscript..." and that's for a hand-written, signed, complete manuscript from a 1996 auction.

yup, Sherlock by Doyle was originally a newspaper serial started in 1881. on October 14, 1892, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle was the publishing date and title of the first ever collected stories book. so today, right now? that book would be 129 years old... approaching its 130th birthday. :D
